Laptop charging port repair in Rancho Palos Verdes

If the charger only works at a certain angle, the plug feels loose, or the laptop stopped charging after the cable was pulled, the charging port is often the problem.

Some laptops have the jack on a small cable. Others have it soldered to the main board, which is the case for most USB-C ports. Soldered ports are replaced at the bench with a hot-air station and microscope, and the board is cleaned and tested afterwards.

Drop-off is by appointment. I'm often out on house calls, so please call or text before coming by. On-site visits available.

October launch offer: Free diagnostic (normally $45) + $20 off your first repair of $75 or more. One per customer. Mention the website when you call or text. Ends Oct 31, 2026.

Questions

How do I know it's the port and not the charger?

I test the charger, the port and the battery separately before quoting. If it's only the charger, you pay the charger price, not a port repair.

Can you replace a soldered USB-C port?

Yes. Soldered DC jacks and USB-C ports are removed and replaced on the main board. If the board itself is damaged around the port, I tell you the price before doing anything.

How long does it take?

Usually 1–2 business days once the part is here. Common ports are often in stock.

How much does a diagnostic cost?

$45 per device (free during the October offer). It's waived if you go ahead with the repair, and there's no charge if it can't be fixed.

Are parts included?

Each price is marked. "Part included" means the price is all-in. "+ part" means I quote the part for your exact model before ordering, so you know the full total before you say yes. You can also bring your own part.

Will I lose my files?

Most repairs don't touch your data. When a reinstall is needed, the "reinstall + data backup" service saves your documents, photos, desktop and bookmarks first and restores them afterward.
